A few watercolours for the Creative Cup show.

And a few cave paintings too. We just finished hanging everything. Fourteen paintings, which could fit into a grouping with a possible theme of ‘What’s for dinner?’ Some neolithic humor.

The link above is to the slideshow of images, my first attempt to make a visual essay. There is an essay from anthropology linked on the right of this page. It has the same title, but the subject is cave painting.

The abstraction of something, is not that thing, this is not a broken femur, although I did the drawing from looking at a broken femur, I abstracted what I was seeing in the lab. But it does suggest violence, of some sort. No matter how realistic the illustration, it is still an abstraction.

For scale, that’s a normal sized coffee cup. I’m still fumbling around with words.

If you have been following for a while you may have seen these. I entered a juried show with them, and just found out I didn’t get in. I might try again next year, maybe with something more colorful.
