World War Remembrance Day

Posted in abstract, Anthropology, Arts & Entertainment, Entertainment, Graphic Anthropology, Painting, Watercolour on November 11, 2012 by graphicanthropology

‘World War I’, 21″ X 30″, watercolour.

Another image of a soldier. These images were as much a way to communicate a feeling to my father as they were a protest against war. He was in the British army in Palestine in 1948.

As a boy I was shown lots of imagery of war, as a deterrent I think, horrible things, don’t join the army! But I was expected to walk/march like a soldier. My friends say I still do, although I never did join the military. My grandfather was in the British army in the first world war and suffered from mustard gas poisoning his whole life. He died in his forties.
