Nowhere

‘Nowhere’, 15″ X 19″, watercolours, 2011.

This is one of those paintings where I think I went a few brushstrokes too far. I was trying to create an Arbutus tree sitting atop a cliff, blown by the wind they sometimes resemble sculpted people pointing inland. This painting I tried from memory, I should possibly have stopped sooner like below.

Knowing when to stop is the most difficult lesson with painting.
