Hippocampus
‘Hippocampus’, 32″ X 48″, oil on panel.
This is the hippocampus. It sits inside your head near the medial temporal lobe. About where your ear should be, but two inches further in. Its about one and a half inches long and looks like a peeled and boiled sea-horse. We all have two of them. At one time I thought this part of the brain had something to do with sex, but have learned since that it is responsible for consolidating short-term memories, like orgasms, into long-term memories, like fantasies about how awesome you are in bed.
